The Window of the
World is a theme park located in the western part of the city of Shenzhen in Guangdong
province. It has about 130 reproductions of some of the most famous tourist
attractions in the world squeezed into 48 hectares (118 acres). Here you can
see vivid replicas of the world's wonders, historical heritages and famous
scenic sites. Along with these reproductions and models, there are rides and
special night time entertainment to see.
Within one day,
you can visit many reproductions of famous sites from different countries. For
example you can find the Mahamuni Pagoda of Mandalay and the Angkor Wat of Cambodia here.
European architectural splendors, such as the Eiffel
Tower , the Ancient Athens, the Leaning
Tower of Pisa and the Tower
of London will carry you
back to the cradle of classical European culture. When you tour the miniature
Roman Colosseum, you might notice a cruel and bloody scene.
Enjoy the
picturesque scenery as you take a gondola along the canals of Venice . Mysterious Africa
is always full of life and vigor. Here, the Pyramids and the Sphinx are quietly
waiting for your visit. After traveling through typical African hamlets, you
come to the Oceania . Sydney Opera House, which
boasts a unique style, is a landmark not only of Australia
but also the whole Oceania . The rumbles of Niagara Falls and the Grand Canyon lead you to the America , a
young continent. These two natural wonders are awe-inspiring. Moving on to
modern civilization, in the replica of Manhattan
you will see rows of towering skyscrapers. No wonder they say the rhythm of
life speeds up here.
The Window of the
World is not all monuments and landscapes. The park also tries to make sure you
can play some games along the way for a small fee. There is an Archery Field
where the tourists can learn from the North American Indians how to use a bow.
If that doesn’t appeal, take the cable car through the tropical forest or do
something totally different and visit the Indoor Alpine Ski Run. Window of the
World can offer their visitors 4,000 square meters or an acre of indoor ski
slopes.
During the
different festivals and holidays, the park puts on special events. They
annually hold the Cherry Festival of Japan and the Indian Cultural Week. They
also run special programs during school holidays in the summer, the Chinese
National Day and Christmas. Events include a summer International Beer
Festival, a Christmas Festival, a Pop Music Festival and a Chinese Spring
Festival. If it all seems a bit overwhelming, pick up a map at the entrance to
make sure you experience your favorite places.
